it's harder to make real friends when you are an adult - simply because of time/priority issues. most people will say their best friends are from grade school, high school or college - those are the days when you have time to really get to know somebody like they are family. they see the real you and you see the real them - warts and all - time spent doing nothing other than spending time together.

i do think occassionally as an adult even without all that time you got to develop your friendships as a kid they can become real friends - the same way you can meet the right woman/man for a romantic relationship and just know almost instantly. rare though.

i don't think its possible to have more real friends in life than you can count on one hand. maybe some very social people can extend that to a second hand.
