Fair, but a large part of the criticism comes from the methods the US military is famous for - namely dirty bombs and carpet bombing, regardless of civilian casualties. The impression is, rightly or wrongly, that the U.S. leaders attitude is "we don't mind killing and maiming a few kids and old ladies if we think we might get a terrorist or two".

That attitude doesn't go over well with the locals, obviously!

And it seems it much easier to do this in countries like Somalia or Iraq where, generally speaking, there isn't a heck of a lot of sympathy for their people back in the U.S. ... but would the military use these tactics inside the U.S.? ... I rest my case.
