I dunno my dad said the same to me, and I'm a heavy weed smoker (no cigarettes though) and when we started trying to have a kid my wife said it would take like a month of trying, and bam she was pregnant right away. Kid is super healthy, cute as a button, pregnancy went perfect, and my tiny little wife delivered like a champ. So I dunno, I smoke like at least 4-5 joints a day, most every day for 10+ years.. My wife of course stopped smoking as soon as she found out she was pregnant, hasn't smoked since.
Sorry to hear about your situation, but just saying didn't have the same experience, maybe they're unrelated.
