Actually i don't know what VET will do a hip surgery to a puppy . If the dog really needs a hip implant , the best way is to wait until he stop growing , so his bones reach the maturity and then you take care of this . If not the implant will be way to small for the big mature bones , and will loose it and then again you have to put the dog for surgery .
I have a mix of Maremanno ( Toscany shepard ) with New Found Land , huge dog , almost 60 Kg and needs hips implant which is about 5000 € , thats very expensive , i would not say i ain't gonna pay this price , but i decided to go for other options : 1 . I feed the dog only with Royal canin ( size health , which makes him loose some weight ) and Spa for dogs ( running under the water , makes his muscles stronger to keep the hop together ) .
I have to add , he was born with this hip dysplasia .
