Also, you'd have no control of whomever you sold the site to unless you only licensed it out, which would be kind of dumb..
I know gallery owners may not mind the extra traffic, but some do because it is their bandwidth being used. They submit to a certain site usually because they can convert that traffic.

Am pretty sure hotlinking is NOT legal, not 100% but pretty sure. And read his stuff again, I might be wrong but it looks like they do hotlink people.
