X-Cart Does have some issues with IE 8 that they are working on right now .

IMO Zen Cart is the way to go
http://www.zencart.com/ they have a built in SEO optimizer for each individual parts. You can SEO part #'s for good google searches. Many techs out there find parts by googleing the part # ;)
