If you want to loose weight the key is exercise and eating better, not necessarily less. If you are burning a lot of calories in a day your body needs that energy. What is important here is what you are eating and what calories you are burning from my understanding. Seems to work for me and I wasn't over 200lbs before loosing some weight so...
On a side note, you will probably be more successful with this if you just write this all down in a book since you aren't always near a computer when you eat. The more you have to think about what you are doing the more chance you have that it will stick.
And finally, just going on a crash diet is going to do nothing for you in the long run, the weight that you lost is going to go right back on unless you change your lifestyle.
