I was going to do a post a week or so before the show to warn people to not say "San Fran" or "Frisco" while here, because if they do, then they may as well wear an Alcatraz t-shirt, because they have branded themselves a tourist.
San Francisco is called "The City" by most of the 7.2 million people that call the San Francisco Bay Area home (even though it's not even the largest city in terms of population the Bay Area - San Jose is).
The reason for this is that San Francisco is the arts and cultural epicenter of the Bay Area, and it's also one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Sure, it has it's share of not so nice areas, but the best of San Francisco, and the amazing sites and vistas are hard to beat.
I strongly suggest that as many of you as can, make sure to set aside some time either before or after the show to spend at least one day seeing the sites.
