Well, I guess to be technical, they haven't yet said whether it was a tornado or straightline winds. I don't know that it matters what they call it, the end result is more fucked up shit.
Some of you may remember the first one we had this year.
I have no clue how this one ranks in terms of comparative damage, because I just got power back within the last 45 minutes or so, and I don't figure that the people running chain saws need me out there driving around.
From what I can glean, it hit about the same area as the last one, which is a few blocks from me. Flipped a trailer over somewhere, ripped the roof of the rural electric company, tree limbs through some houses, etc.
No one was hurt, thankfully.
For me, one of the saddest parts was that our park is fubar'ed. It's just a tiny thing, like our town, but it had some beautiful trees that were probably hundreds of years old. Here are a couple of pics ripped from a local paper:
It tore the metal basketball goals down, etc.
Having had gone to bed about 4 a.m, I woke up when it was going through about 7:10 a.m. Registred that a storm was in progress, and that we had no power. Grabbed my cell phone to check the time, made sure that the manchild had left for work, and promptly went back to sleep.
So as usual, I was clueless.
