I have to admit, this very nearly makes even me an Obama fanboy, rather than just a supporter.
A big problem in the US is the number of black men who don't support their own children enough. Yes, there are plenty of white, latino and asian men who do exactly the same, but among black men, the percentage is a lot higher than among any other group of the population.
With the election just a few months away, it takes balls to voice an unpopular truth. By saying this, Obama shows that he has those balls. Liberalism is great, but only when coupled with honesty - sometimes blunt honesty, at that.
Obama's experience is still a problem, of course, but looking at his platform, his ability to inspire people and his apparent willingness to address real but painful truths, he seems to be a pretty damn good candidate.
(as an unrelated aside, I think McCain would come close to being an equally good candidate, if only he wasn't forced to pander to conservative dogma - as it is, though, a vote for McCain would be as bad as a vote for Bush was a few years ago)
