Take for instance the city I live in, Chicago. There are extremely strict gun laws in Chicago. You more or less can't own a gun unless you're in law enforcement. Yet Chicago has a shitload of shootings in parts of the city.

Then take a small town in Montana. Every single person in that small town owns a gun of sort, many times numerous ones. Yet they may have never had a single murder in the history of their town.

While some people are wording it dumb, there really isn't a correlation of crimes increasing as guns become more readily available. It's a society issue. Those who want to kill someone will find a gun somehow. Banning them does little. Unless you plan to make it a nationwide ban, stop gun makers from making weapons, and institute extremely harsh sentences for possessing them, nothing will change.

I live in a wealthy part of Chicago. We have no major crimes. No murders, no shootings. I go 20 miles South and there will be 20 shootings every weekend. We have the same laws, same punishments. The issue is about what our society is like and the effects of poverty, not the particular gun law.
