B.S. I used to work in the film industry. I went to film school at UCLA. Americans don't dislike foreign accents. FAmericans are suckers for foreign accents. Go ask any of your Aussie brethren who've fucked their way across America. For fuck sake, I can't tell you how many chicks I know who melt in a second for aussie, english, or even french accent.
The reason foreign films aren't huge hear is the same reason that American indie films aren't huge: it's because of the studio system. Occasionally (or more than occasionally) an indie or foreign film does make it big, however, there is a universality of American films that make them popular all over the world.
Moreover, all these American films that people think are so American. I've got news for you. I worked in the film biz, and I can't tell you how much money for these films comes from overseas. French, English, Australian firms pour shitloads of money into "American" films to finance them. More movies than you think are majority financed by a foreign company, even though you'd think they're 100% American.
