I did seo, which is where a project like this could really do well. I would personally focus on less popular niches. If I were to get back into webmastering, I'd focus on anything other than babe/teen/etc.

My days were spent researching, studying traffic, building pages, and generating links and traffic. You just mentioned not wanting to waste time on something that might not pay out... unfortunately, that's the way it is!
