1) They don't develop the characters enough to make them likable. Usually in a superhero movie they open by having a family getting mugged and then have the hero come in and save them (or something like that). Then you get a little bit of backstory on the guy that makes you empathize with him. For example, in "Iron Man" our boy Tony Stark is tortured with another guy by Arab terrorists. At one point he wants to sacrifice himself for the other hostage. You start to like him and root for him. In The Dark Knight they did none of that... they just showed us the dark side.
2) Maggie Gillenhall is the most butt-ugly female lead ever in a superhero movie. With all of the thousands of hot women in Hollywood, that's the best they could find? She's not even a good actress.
3) In this movie, Batman has superhuman strength and can bend a steel gun barrel with one hand. When I was a kid, the cool thing about Batman was that he had no superpowers.
4) Although Batman now has superhuman strength, the joker is now a superninja who can dodge bullets and can beat batman straight up in a fight. The Joker can walk into a meeting of 50 mafia guys, kill one, and then walk out. There is just no explanation in this thing about why the Joker is so powerful. Is he from another planet? I know the original joker was not, but I think maybe this joker gets his powers from the same place that Green Latern gets his.
5) The action was hard to follow... most of it was in dark shadow. At a key moment in the movie when commissioner gordon saves the day, I couldn't figure out what the hell happened.
6) Like all superhero movies, the stunts were overly unrealistic. Everyone gets in car crashes thoughout the movie where cars flip and roll over a bunch of times, and then climbs out and walks away.
7) The movie was way too long. At 1 hour 45 minutes, it went from OK to annoying.
Just my opinion...

Wow, you just don't pay attention.
1. See Batman Begins
2. That was idiotic, what you said there. Maybe she's not super-fine, but she's a good actress.
3. He's a pretty strong guy, and with the gloves + thin gun barrel, it's not outside the realm of possibility.
4. He has no superpowers. He just has balls. That scene with the mafia guys was setting up his character as a very powerful and unstoppable persona.
5. It was one of the only daylight scenes when Gordon got shot.
6.
7. I feel you on this one. It was too long. But it was 2:30, not 1:45.
