Google uses a real simple way to determine if a page might have been updated.
The frequency it is willing to check depends on pagerank though, so you can't get it to check every hour.

Before posting your logs, please tell us what you are
trying to demonstrate. You haven't stated the PR of that index page, so what you're saying is "boring", by your signature's definition.
Your visits appear to be slightly arhythmic- why the 5 day gap?
Give me a counterexample with equivalent PR, or go away.
