Dropping a dime ---
Rather antiquated saying, originally coined because it used to cost a dime to make a phone call from a pay phone way back in ancient times (the 60's, 70's). Squealers would "drop a dime" in a phone booth to call in anonymous tips to the cops, etc.
It should be updated to "drop a quarter"... but somehow it just doesn't have the same ring to it.
