I am 22 and I made the jump and moved to Costa Rica. Came with the now ex-girlfriend for a job op. After the job fell apart, I decided to just do freelance and stay down here. I'm still here and I don't regret it. I now have a new girlfriend, a local girl, who I've very happy with and we are starting a life together down here.

At first I was a little leary, because the only place I'd been outside of the US was Canada, and that really wasn't that much different for me. But seeing as I had a good job op, and things were just falling into place, I said why not?

I've been here over a year now and all I can say is I am so happy I made the move. I've made even better friends down here, and a lot of the stress and shit I had back in my hometown from friends and family has vanished.

If your girl loves you, she will make the move for the both of you, and you can see how it works out down here. You can usually find yourself a nice apartment anywhere between $500-1000 / month, in the central valley or if you want to do live on the beach, $800-1400 / month.
