Doesn't really matter, technically it's copyright infringement which is usually worse than stealing in a lot of cases.
If you stole a mp3 player worth $100 from someone they would be out $100. If you distributed 1,000 copies of a album or movie that could cost the owner of the content up to 15 grand or so.
It's not my content being shared but even I can see it's fucked up to run those tube sites that share illegally. I've seen that excuse for copyright infringement posted quite often at big nerdy sites such as digg. It's just a way to help them sleep better at night.
