If the doctors have checked things out and can't find anything, you're probably okay. It's likely to be something like anxiety, stress, allergies, or asthma.
But then again, I'm no doctor, and there's nothing wrong with reading up, educating yourself, and insisting on finding a diagnoses.

Get the inhaler. You will be shocked. When I went through it, I was better off walking around. As soon as I sat down or laid down, it got awful.
Also, oddly, cold water brings it out in me. When I go surfing, right when the water hits me, I get shortness of breath. Pools seem to cause this also.
