I heard a rumor on this a little while ago, but not as abstract as what these people say. Basically, ISPs will offer "basic" internet packages for a lower price each month to people so they can check email and go to the comcast (or ISP) home page. Its sort of like when you go to circuit city, they only allow you to browse their webpage.

... all these ISPs like comcast and verizon are trying to do is snag up the rest of the people on dial up for a cheap price per month and introduce people to "the internet" at a low cost where they will like it, and pay $50 more a month to browse myspace and youtube
