Like everyone says, it depends. For off line businesses it's 3-5 years earnings depending on a few factors. For on-line, I've seen it as little as 3 months earnings depending on how the site makes money. For example, is it heavily dependent on SE traffic, one sponsor, etc. These would all make it worth less.
