You are looking at it one (positive) way.
Another way to look at it is that the dude had to fly 15 hours to finally reach some woman who hasn't yet rejected him.
Think of all the women he encounters every single day, 365 days a year for all the years of his adult life and NONE of them thought he was worth keeping.
So, now he finds himself having to fly 15 hours away hoping to find someone who hasn't told him to "Get Lost!" (yet).
Next he will be forced to go intercontinental. Really kinda sad when you look at it from this angle.
