Sales do not matter, it would be how much take home pay he gets if he is worried about such taxes. Especially since if your not earning over 200k a year or so right now, your savings is not going to be taxed extra, nor any business loan would be taxed.

My damn plumber cost me some 35k+ this year on one damn project. Though I do know his profit margin was only about 12% on that job. It tied him and another up for about a week as well. The 35k had nothing at all to do with much though. I am also sure as a plumbing team they could do well over a quarter million in sales a year. Yet if they stay at 12% on the larger jobs, their yearly income is damn low.
