Combine an eager developer community with a cheap, open development platform, and what will eventually be tons of hardware choices for the consumer... I think it'll be a huge success. I know I would buy one over an iphone or blackberry.

as soon as HTC rolls out that HD touch with android along with support for large SD capacities it is all over... Garmin needs to port REAL GPS over to android (google maps is a joke for GPS)
If the HTC mogul (which has been out what like 2yrs now?) had a real OS instead of the POS windows mobile there simply never would have been an iphone.
Simple things like battery swaps that ANYBODY can do /discussion
If they put together something like that HTC touch diamond with something like apples normal ipod wheel mechanism for rolling through songs it would simply be over, there would be only 1 phone on the market

well actually 2.... the touch only version and the one with a slide out keyboard.
I've said this MANY times in various places. THIS IS THE FIRST android phone. Give google a full year and the iphone will be just like a mac - looks pretty but in the end simply doesn't fill anything but a niche for apple fanboys who are willing to pay far more for a device supported by less.
Within 5 years the iphone VS android will be the PC VS Mac - everybody says mac is so secure but in the end it is simply because nobody wants to bother exploiting macs since they don't have enough MARKET to bother.
I have forced myself to spend a minimum of 45 days with various OS's as my ONLY operating system on my main computer. I've used Ubuntu, mac, vista, XP and Win 2008 (vista server). By far my favorite OS is win 2008 BUT in the end lack of media center connections with my xbox ended up making me go to choice #2 Vista! If I did more with videos Mac is real slick but didn't fit me for more than just a pretty toy.
