bingo
the problem i have is that i am always thinking about how much work i wont be able to do because i have to go to the gym (which gives you a shitty excuse for going "tomorrow")
so what i do is get up, do cardio... eat... watch the news.. go to the gym & get it over with so i'm not thinking about it at all for the day anymore
if you're like me the hang up is the interference with work, if you absolutely DREAD going to the gym and are trying to get back into it... start eating clean for a week, then the next week go to the gym but jump around (no serious workouts 30-45 min), then the 3rd week begin your routine
that is how i get into it after i've been off for a while
you have to be in shape to go to the gym
lastly, if you're serious about your health & quality of life you should check your hormone levels & see where you're at
the less optimal your levels are the less energy you have, the slower you recover, the harder it is to gain muscle, lose fat, etc... who would want to go or be able to stick with it then?
good luck
