People who regularly purchase memberships (or even the occasional purchaser) would know how much the $29.95 membership used to cost them, and smell something funny when they see a join page with a much higher effective price in Euros.
Regional pricing is another one of those short term $, long term effect things like prechecked xsells. Enjoy it while you can.
