We do that in the UK and their are drawbacks. You do get spoiled slips where people have ticked their choice or signed the ballot paper. If you mark the paper with anything other than an x next to your candidates name, they simply dont count the vote. With machines that doesnt happen, but you get all this bollocks, so I guess your still better off with a pencil and paper.
