I dunno. I think if you had half a brain it wouldn't be that hard to shoot good content in whatever niche even if you weren't into it and had never seen it before. It just means you spend a night going through the highest rated sites in that niche and working out that it doesn't mean a 5 second hint of it in a 30 min hardcore scene (I say a night asuming it's a one off shoot, obvious if you're going to try and "break" into the niche it's months of research). Even if you had to print out screenies every min to make a "storyboard" for the shoot and just copy what the good guys are doing. I think the only difference is knowing innately what to shoot and how to shoot it and having to put some research into it... The guy that loves his work will probably always be ahead in adherence to the niche by 5-10% but a talented person that actually takes the time to work out what's going on can be almost indistinguishable... I guess like most things, most people aren't talented and too stupid to spend the time. Although I will add, 5 second foot licks are more likely a financial decision than a creative one.. ie "we need to fill out the member's area - uh here's some vaguely related dvds that might bost retention 5% by tripling the content".
