I'm not trying to offend you, just trying to understand the reason for bringing it up. I understand that you think that America isn't really doomed if it's been this way so long, but do you think it should remain this way or change? Would the change be better or worse for America?

There seems to be a tendency for people to think they are living in the worst of times. That people, politicians, governments and so on have never been this bad. That the world is uniquely threatened today in a way that it never has been before. I don't just refer to the US. I refer to the entire world. People who believe they are living in "the end times". People who look back to the past at a "golden age". This is a theme that continually repeats.
Technology may change. We talk on cellphones instead of calling an operator. We read the news online rather than waiting for a newspaper to be delivered to us. We send an email rather than mail that takes 3 days to and back to our relatives. We fly across the a country in a jet rather than taking a covered wagon. But human nature remains the same. We're the same despicable beings we have always been. And I mean "all of us". present company included.
There are those who think that what is really wrong with the world today is us. You know, we pornographers. It's always a matter of perspective.
I like the world just the way it is. Give me more of the same.
Oh, and as far as "America". it will come and go. In its time. No reason to be all that concerned with it. The Byzantines are no longer around. They were for quite a while.
