I hear you, but it will be a while before the economy comes back...and if I want to keep all my domains I will need a night job and weekend job to pay for them.
As far as the LLLL.com domains go, whenever you still have the other extensions available...means less demand. .com is still key though, as far as short names I managed to get FUKF.com, OXPX.com, OXSX.com, and 6XX9.com...and a good 5 letter....FUKCU.com
As far as websites go...a great domain name is good, but content is key, and with good content you will get traffic. At least this has been my experience. Good Luck
