We don't have a real gun culture in Australia. You saying that is like me saying how stupid it is that everyone has a gun in America. It's completely ignorant of the history of the situation. Most people have never even seen a gun. Farmers still have their rifles. We never had the "Hey lets go boar hunting with an AK47" culture you guys do. So the majority of people supported the move. We don't have that insane militia fringe paranoid about the government and blowing up government buildings that you guys do. We've got a few kooks sure, especially up north.. but our cultures are really very different in this respect even though we are VERY VERY similar in a lot of others. We never had a civil war. We never had slaves... We never had that many reasons to really have a paranoid gun culture...
