You need to be related to someone else who's a Mason to get in, but usually someone will pretend to be your cousin or uncle. In some parts of the world and this country and in some lodges there's probably a connection between Masonry and success, but definitely not in others -- all of those fraternal organizations are dying out. But if you can ignore some of the bullshit (racism, etc.) and just focus on the positive aspects you can't really go wrong except that it can be a major time/energy suck.
If you just do it for networking it's probably not worth it (unless you live in the south) since for every connection you make who will help you out, there are 100 people who will actually discriminate AGAINST you for being a Mason.
