That is quite impossible to answer, but if I take more of a classical rock and would list those that were somehow unique, tough to immitate, tough to foget, never got old and I listened to them like crazy in the past:
Jimi Hendrix Experience - therapy that always delivers and never fails to amaze me, even after some 16 years that I listen to them time from time
Black Sabbath - the band that started to play something that were never around and that started the whole hard n heavy thing
Thin Lizzy - there's one soulful band that goes straight through your heart and liver
Guns'n'Roses - the last "sex drugs n Rock n Roll" band that made it big, they might as well be a bunch of assholes but they created their own antics that were just too strong and too real to ignore
Who should be the fifth? The Who? The Stooges? Velvet Underground? Led Zeppelin? King Crimson? The Doors? Deep Purple? Vanilla Fudge? Cream? The Pogues? Stray Cats? Steely Dan? Tool? Slayer? Soundgarden? Van Halen? Cream?
There are just probably tens or hundreds of bands I have a whole lot of passion for and that I could list for those or other reasons.
JaneB if I could find a way how to market your attitude I would put up promos immediately.
