It's even worse than this article makes it sound. I saw some video that someone managed to sneak out on 60 minutes last year. The landscape of old concrete buildings in the urban and suburban areas is eerily quiet and you notice that there is not a living animal, like a dog or a cat or a pigeon or a squirrel or any living creature making any kind of noise whatsoever nor running, hopping or flying by in the background since any source of food for a people that were literally starving for many years has been caught by hand and gobbled up.
