I'd usually pay bums and drunks to sleep out and then deliver food and booze to them while they were there, then show up and give them the money right when the ticket window opened. They would buy the tickets, hand them to me and then I would pay them something small.
I don't remember the exact numbers but I remember selling Paul Mccartney 3rd and 4th row tickets for something like $1000 - $1200 each. I made almost 50k just off of that one show and I was just out of high school. A little less once you took about newspaper ads and what I paid the bums, so say 48k.
I'd park lots of guys out there for all the BIG shows and just a few for the smaller shows where I could only get a few hundred bucks for a ticket. Rock shows and the like at that time were only going for maybe $200 - $300 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows while big names could get $500 - $800+ easy for the same rows.
