Yeah arguing is useless. I came into this to say that trolling all the big programs until they finally leave isn't good for GFY and exposing our business to consumers hasn't done affiiates any favors. People are still signing up as type ins. No other business exposes how they work.
The conversation immediately turned into a gang ass rape on me with everyone racheting it up and saying that all the major players are stealing and shouldn't be on GFY. So what is the solution?
I see with my own two eyes what is happening with sales off of my tgps. And that started last year. Tubes and torrents ripping entire members areas (including mine) Every year traffic would grow for my tgp's. Culminating in 2006 with 1.2 million uniques a day. Now? My tgp's are a ghost town in comparison to that. Illegit tube sites decimated that.
And my sales? They were being destroyed the same way on my paysite. Couldn't put up a new update without it being on all the torrents and tubes within an hour.
So which one is killing sales? Over aggressive x-sells or tubes or a combination? Probably a combination. BUT...once I protected my content, my sales went back up. So I CAN directly attribute illegit tubes and torrents to sales loss. No theory, no angry emails from surfers, no conjecture....just plain out fact. I stopped the bleeding from my members area, and sales went up. That is my experience, and it makes damn good sense.
I pointed out that I have seen over the years some really bad things done. Dialers were by far the very worst of the worst. You could x-sell somebody 20 times and not come close to the dialers that were installed on them WITHOUT buying anything and would disconnect their dial up ISP and reconnect them without their knowledge at $15 a MINUTE. And no way at all at the end of the month when that phone bill showed up for THOUSANDS of dollars to get that money back.
Now THAT was stealing.
And I also said that I think that if a person gets a x-sell, and it's done properly (as most are) they not only have the opportunity to uncheck it, they get an email at the same time as the actual site they joined telling them they have a ONE DOLLAR trial that will rebill for a full month in a couple of days, and they also have a link to cancel AND they have a support phone number on their card statement AND they can always get a credit back and yes, even a chargeback if they want.
That's the right way. I have no problem with that at all (not that anybody would care what another person does or doesn't have a "problem" with pertaining to their business)
Anything on the cancel page, or terms of service or anything that stops a person from cancelling? Then it's over the line.
And I clearly said that in this thread.
Roald keeps saying over and over that "Some" don't "get it" And that's a reference to me. Well, I think I just laid it out in black and white that I do "get it" There isn't much to "get" Either you do it right or you don't.
I can't stop the guys who don't. And I said that everyone already knows who does what and can make their own choices. In the end that's exactly what will happen.
In the meantime I don't see the purpose of continually bashing the big affiliate programs if it does nothing but drive them off of GFY. And neither does the management here. It makes zero sense to drive the biggest people in the adult internet industry off of the forum FOR the adult internet industry.

Nah...he just wanted to start a fight. And then the entertainment began. And I love it when someone like that wants to start something. He isn't literate, educated, or experienced enough to do much with anyone on here in an argument.
But why you CamoCat decided you wanted to join in? I have no fucking idea. But I looked at you, and realized that even though you were being an asshole to me...that you were actually in this business and had an affiliate program that I hadn't seen.
So I wrote back in this thread and apologized for jumping back in your face (even though you damn sure deserved it), and I went and signed up for Red Square Cash and started promoting it.
You took my apology and told me that you could give two shits about having my respect.
So I pulled your shit back down as quick as I could. I have no earthly idea why you chose to jump at me. I know it's GFY so intelligent and thoughtful discussion doesn't seem to have had a place here in a few years.
But for people to carry on about x-sells like they are so important, and then flat out REFUSE to consider all sides of it or even have a conversation about it, smacks of drama. And for some people on here that's all they care about. Creating drama.
And if it's just all about drama and attacking the programs until they leave GFY, then I can't see how that does anything except make the drama queens feel "important"
The solution is simple...if you don't like the way a person does business, then DON'T do business with them. There really isn't much else you can do. We're not nazi's and can't "force" people to do anything. And yes, GFY is a great place to alert people so they can make their decisions. But is that ALL it's for? Thread after thread attacking people who will soon just stop coming here at all?
