You don't need to be sworn in to back away from your pledge... it's the typical politician maneuver of promising everything idealistic under the sun to get elected and then afterwards worry about backtracking and appeasing the other politicians, being realistic. Many of the things promised by all runners were unrealistic pandering. There are lots of things that he CAN do, though... I just hope that he does.
