Actually, December 25th is the birth date of Mithra, the Pagan sun god. The Christians used this date to help Northern European Pagan worshipers to assimilate into the blood filled world of Christianity. Jesus wasn't born in December, it was more like August according to more accurate fiction novels.
In reality Jesus wasn't born at all; scientifically speaking of coarse.
In the end it simply became a ploy to give the economy a once a year boost.
