Wow, old thread getting the old bumparoo.
But if you are just starting and are smart and understand niches, you can make a few bucks submitting. Use that money you make to buy some gallery templates, maybe a few scripts. Start a few blogs in the meantime. Link your blog posts to your galleries. Try your hand at freesites. Use the money to buy inbound links to your blogs. Next thing you know you have a decent amount of traffic. At least that's what some asshole told me once.
