Nope, but they made it much faster in 2008 vs 2007. The software and functionality of the iDrive will remain unchanged from the 2008 Model Year in the 5 series and 6 series. In Model Year 2009, the 1 Series, 3 Series and 7 Series will be equipped with the new version of iDrive. Not sure about the X though.
If you have a slower 2007 iDrive version in your BMW you can go to the dealership and get the update. It takes a split second to switch between screen instead of seconds. Also the recalculation of the directions in the navigation is much much faster.
Personally I'm waiting for the z4 in the fall or z4m next year. Nice car for the city and the country.
