"At approximately midnight Pacific Standard Time, on December 31, 2008, Zune 30s across the world simultaneously went to the boot screen and stayed there, frozen.[15][16] Some believe the problem stems from the recent 3.1 update.[17][18] People experiencing the problem are giving the event many names, among them Z2K9,[19] Y2K9,[20] Z2K,[20][21] the Zune Screen of Death,[21] Zunepocalypse,[22] and the December 31st, 2008 Zune Meltdown. Microsoft posted a comment on the support front page stating the issue is because 2008 is a leap year and all Zune 30s were not programmed to recognize this. The official "fix" is to drain the device battery and then recharge after midday GMT on 1 January 2009.[23] It is worth noting that due to time constraints Microsoft left it to Toshiba Corp to design the internal hardware of the Zune 30, an action they have not repeated since."

I had this player for 1 year exactly, one year of frustration over its complicated soft etc., so when this happened i just throw it on the floor...
