As for chemical weapons, I don't think they are doing that. They have a clear advantage with the weapons they have.

Reporters are not allowed in because in the past they didn't report the whole story and showed parts of the events going on which looked to everyone like a different issue was going on all together plus they don't know what they will be facing in the coming days and you can't have reporters in the way until the situation is more stable.
