True, I think the traditional porn biz (as we've known it for the past 5-8 years) is slowly dying. But what isnt these days? Im often on a mainstream board and see everyone complaining that their adsense revenue is down huge amounts since last year and the year before, commissions from affiliate sales are down, etc, etc. So, its not just the porn biz, but everything else as well.
My thinking... its not really people spending or clicking less, its the availability and mass number of sites that are out there today versus five years ago. Take anyone new to adult for instance, with almost little money (say $300) you can get a hosting account, 10 tube sites and a TGP/MPG network of over 25 sites and still have some money left over to buy traffic.
Granted probably poor designs and flooded with already saturated FHGs, but in either case times that by maybe 10 or 20 new webmasters a day and after two or three months, thats a LOT of new sites.
Now you being the "porn surfer" you now have an almost infinite amount of sites and free porn to check out, and in that case, the amount of sales is now spread out over 10,00,000 webmasters in 2009, versus maybe the 10,000 in 1999.
Either way, its becoming easier and easier to get a website up on the net, and companies that are offering out of the box solutions for low prices are not really helping the situation much IMO
