I agree 100% 4chan, SA, Fark, YTMND, b3ta, ED etc are all the /b/irthplaces of memes and internet phenomenon. To ignore these communities and stick to just GFY and other industry boards is a very self limiting view of the web as a whole - of particular importance to this industry - YOUNG MALES. In fact when something "Viral" appears on GFY is usually very very very old news to the rest of these much more vibrant communities.
I would like to caution against spamming these communities however. Picture related.
