Nihongo o wakari masuka?

or

Nihongo o hansukote ga dekimasuka?

Japanese [Kanji script] borrows a lot of Chinese script, but the kanas do NOT borrow from Chinese at all. And when you say 'Chinese', I assume you mean mandarin / cantonese / simplified.
