Nope, Miss Holly, it is not just a girl thing. With my own eyes I witnessed my son and his friend sit next to each other at a ballgame, and they were both texting furiously. I asked who they were texting that was so important that they weren't watching the game.
The answer..."each other".
I knew then that I was getting very, very old.
I hate to text as well. I mean, one message is okay. But if you are going to send me 25 in a row, call me.
I am about to break down and get a blackberry so that I can have a qwerty keyboard. I refuse to text in that God awful 'textese' stuff, and I am so slow that I'll have 5 messages waiting before I can get one sent out.
