The country is hurting in a big way both at home and abroad. People around the world are sick of what our government has been doing in our name. People at home are sick of what our government has been doing in OUR name. The economy is shit and is only going to get worse for a while.
How can anyone blame people for being excited about Obama? He hasn't promised any miracles. He hasn't said anything is going to be easy. Time and time again he's said that it is going to take work and sacrifice and people need to take some personal responsibility. He's said things may get started during his first and/or second term but that might not even be enough time to undo all the crap we've gotten into in a Kennedy like mold.

I think that sums it up pretty well. I voted for him, and I am very excited to see him sworn in today.
I don't expect him to work any miracles. It will take years upon years of steady, dedicated effort for all of us to un-do the damage we collectively have done.
But damn, the man makes me feel like it's possible.
Hope springs eternal.
