It's really a piece of string question. The best host is the one you think has value. More than just the best price or the biggest customer base. Most all hosts are going to have similar speeds these days, and most that are in business for more than a few years have a decent network. All of them buy from Tier-1's and resell it to you, toss in management, and other services.

So the real question is who is the best fit for you. IMO the best is whoever really understands your business and sites, and then backs it up with the right services, price and support.

Ask lots of questions and expect real world answers, not just " we're the best " or " we have great this and that... ".
