I don't see how this could be possible since the MAC address will never make it past your ISP. If you're on a non bridged link (eg not ADSL+PPPoE) then it shouldn't even be visible outside your local network.
I am however pretty sure that they have a setup where they can predict with some confidence that x% of searches from a given IP belong to a particular person. They use a long held cookie and I'm sure they have an algorithm that can "rejoin" a chain that is broken by that cookie being cleared (eg if someone upgrades their computer)
That's why I *really* need to write this script I keep thinking about that does one simple thing: feeds random queries to Google 24/7. My own queries will be hiding in plain sight.
