If you have read everything around him before this situation, you'd know he was a trustworthy, hardworking guy. It's fucked up, but he did plan to deliver the work he was given. I bought a logo from him and he delivered - he was ridiculously honest regarding the transfer scam as well and was planning to finish the work to be able to pay back, but now he can't finish the work and he has to choose.
It was probably not just the light bill that was the whole problem, it was just the first thing to pay as to be able to keep working for the money. The reason he sold his computer and not his daughter's is that his was good and would actually sell..
There is logic in this. It was someone who was desperate for cash, who planned to offer work but couldn't get enough projects going, scammed for it, and then since he still didn't get that much work had sold his computer and couldn't deliver. Fucked up, but let's not go all paranoid on half-facts.
